Research Paper
The members in our group are JoHanna, Laney, and Lupe. Our experiment was the naked egg experiment. To do this experiment we used two cups, two eggs, and two types of vinegar which were white and balsamic vinegar. The question that evolved was, which vinegar will work the best to dissolve the egg shell? The hypothesis is that we think the white vinegar will work best to dissolve the egg shell. We think this because, the balsamic vinegar is only used for cooking and not usually used for experiments. The background information is: cups are used for drinking, the eggs are used for cooking and eating, and the vinegar is used for cooking, jellyfish stings and is helped to make pickles. The procedure we used was that you put the eggs in the cups then put the vinegar in the cups, let vinegar and eggs sit in cup for 24 hours. Then, change the vinegar the next day. Our group observed a chemical reaction happening when the bubbles formed on the outside of the egg shell which was helping dissolve it. It dissolved because, it was almost like the eggs had an allergic reaction to the vinegar. We concluded that the white vinegar works best to dissolve the egg shell compared to the balsamic vinegar. We conclude this because, the egg shell was still on the egg that was set in balsamic vinegar. The members in our group worked to accomplish the experiment for about a week. Then, Ady by "accident" dropped one egg on the laptop and Laney decided to stab the other egg with a "dull" (according to her) pencil.
